The Task at Hand

The Task at Hand
Since starting to work in watercolour again, Ive chosen some challenging subjects. This one was no acception with the checked shirt. The folds of his chaps where wonderful to work on with their folds of leather.

I hope Ive done justice to my subject. My next challenge is a black and white watercolour portrait of a horse and rider. But first I have a beautiful immortal collie dog named Tye to complete.

Reindeer magic

My 8 year old daughters school teacher asked if I would do a christmas art project with the class.

Panic mode sure kicked in. Felt I had to do the right thing I decided that this guy would (fingers crossed) be simple enough for a group of 7 - 8 year olds to do. The class starts next week, when I get the kids kicked off with drawing up their reindeer ready to paint.

Wish me luck as this is something entirely new for me.

Lioness

Lioness

There are some things in life that are a lot of fun to do. Last week I attended the Mitchell Winter School of Arts in Bathurst NSW Australia, for the week, relearning watercolour. I haven't painted in watercolours for such a long time and really just want to get back into them.

I met a lot of wonderful people there who all ate, slept and lived art for the week. My tutor Stephen Powell a renowned Australian Wildlife artist was a great teacher, Ive already told my family that I would like to go back in 18 months to push my watercolours to that next level. After Ive gotten comfortable with this medium again.

The photo of the lioness I painted was by Olivier Delaere (view his great photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/acinonyx1/) I want to thank you Olivier for the use of your wonderful photos for my artwork.

I'm looking forward to starting another soon.

Dogue Dogue Dogue - New

Dogue Dogue Dogue

Dogue de Bordeaux is the latest breed that I have drawn for Dreamscape Canine Collectibles. When Pat forwarded me the name of this breed I must confess I thought it was a small fluffy French breed. Just shows how wrong you can be in a name. Merchandise with these images on will soon be available from Dreamscape.

To purchase merchandise with my images on from Dreamscape click on the link on my home page. www.animalarthouse.com
