work in progress - black arab stage 4

Stage IV

More colour blocked in on the face along with definition on the mane and tail.  Slowly getting there think Im about at the  ugly stage. Just hate it when  a work gets to that but at least I know that it will improve with time and  paitence.

Work in progress Black arab painting - stage 3

Stage 3

Ive started blocking in more colour now adding a few more pinks in the darks and generally trying to get the roundness of the horses rump and side blocked in to develope.  Its a matter of working in stages and layers a bit like a watercolour painting only in acrylics.

Work in Progress - arab horse

Stage 2

An update on my black arab painting 24" x 32" acrylic.  Ive decided to limit my palette to 4 colours for this particular painting.  Starting with the rump an jaw line Ive blocked in darks to give shape to these areas.  Its funny but when you look at some photos you can see other colours in there as well with this fellow there is a rose pink tone throughout the lights of his coat.

Stay tuned

work in progress

Arab work in progress

No this isnt an eye test :)  Rather a look at how I a  painting.  When finished this acrylic painting (24" x 32") will be of a black arab horse.  Ive drawn him up in white watercolour pencil as this is easier to cover and to see on dark surfaces.

Stay tuned for updates.  As yet this painting is untitled expressions of interest in purchasing the finished painting can come to me catherin@animalarthouse.com

Pendragon - pastel in progress

Pendragon

Pendragon is a knadstrapper stallion,  I just love all his spots. Its amazing that we think of white animals as white but when you look closely there are lovely pinks and mauves and sometimes a bit of blue mixed in.  Im really enjoying being back at the easel.  Pendragon is my first pastel on the easel for the  year.

14" x 19" pastel for sale. You can reserve this drawing for yourself drop me an email for more details:  catherin@animalarthouse.com
