Pocket Full of Pups

Pocket Full of Pups

Ive been working on this piece on and off for a couple of months. As Ive enjoyed doing the single canvas's with the pop art pups on them and wanted to do something big and bold thought Id put brush to canvas so to speak an create a pocket full of pups.

After going through reference photos from various groups I belong too and finding the images I wanted to use the next hardest part was deciding upon the background colours to use. Not always an easy thing to come up with.

Pocket Full of Pups is quite large 122cm x 92cm (can work that out in inches if anyone would like me to convert) mixed media on 2.5 cm gallery wrapped canvas.

The bright colours would look great in an office or foyer and brighten any room with its vibrant colours.

Price: $1750.00 + shipping.

thanks for looking and please pass these guys image onto anybody you may feel is interested in purchasing.

Charlie

Charlie
Earlier this year I saw Charlie at the local agricultural show. He was being ridden under saddle by his owner. As I had my camera handy and thought he had such great character I decided to take some photos of him in his yard. What made me laugh about him was that every time I clicked the camera he pulled a face like he was either smiling or laughing at me.
It had both myself and my mother in stitch's. Didn't give another thought to Charlies photos until I was asked to include photos of my artwork containing cattle in a magazine article. This gave me the excuse I needed to dig out Charlies photos and draw him.
Charlies portrait has been purchased by his owners. Thanks Robin and Garry.

Roxie II

Roxie II
Early last year I created a large portrait of Roxie for her owners. They loved her and her portrait so much that Leigh asked me to do a smaller version of the orginal large portrait. So here is Roxie II she has he most amazing eyes and I can surely see why they loved her so much.

Virtual Party

" Rear View"

A virtual party is a wonderful idea by a couple of members of the EAG (equine artists guild) the photo was supplied by Juliet Harrisson a wonderful equine photographer from the guild.
Each artist had 24hours to interpretate the image how they wanted and post to the party blog.
My interpretation was "Rear View" just a bit of a twist from my usual style.
I didnt have 24hours only had an hour to complete mine as I had other commitments for that day.
Rear View is 6" x 8.5" pastel. Check out the link to the party there is some amazing work there.
Cant wait for next months party.
"Rear View" for sale $175.00 + postage drop me an email if you would like to purchase:

Work in Progress stage 2

Stage II

Whilst most artists work from left to right I find it much easier to work from right to left. Perhaps that has something to do with my being right handed???
The next step in Ruger's painting is to start on the rider and saddle. The jodhpurs showed a bluish sheen down the outside of the leg which works well as a reflection of the blue background.
After adding colour to the jodhpurs I started working on the saddle adding the suggestion of light and shadow and defining the texture in the saddle cloth.

Hope your enjoying the process of Ruger's painting

Thanks for reading
