Finally had a chance to work on Zac's portrait again today.. his face is coming together nicely and Ive blocked in his neck and plaits both on his neck and fore head.

I will continue working on the halter next and then his muzzle before starting on Zac's neck.

Once Ive work on the entire drawing I will then decide how much it will need darkening

Piaffe

Piaffe

Well i finally finished this piece this morning after months of working on exhibition pieces.. it is the newest in my dressage series.

Funny how after you photograph a piece you think is finished you can see things that may need a bit of a tweak..

Will think it over over the weekend and then decide what I'll do. Piaffe is destined for a display at a dressage event I have been invited to just before Christmas..

However expressions of interest are being taken to purchase before hand

Christmas Commissions

Christmas Commissions - Book early to avoid disappointment

Well that time of year is fast approaching us again when we start looking for that special gift to give for Christmas.

A portrait is a wonderful way to create that special and lasting memory that can be passed on for generations to come.

Be it a portrait of yourself with a furry four legged companion,

a portrait of a present or past animal pal.

Bookings for commissions will be closing soon to allow plenty of time for completion and delivery for Christmas.

Remember that good clear images (the larger the better) are best to work with as they allow a lot more detail for me to work with.

If your uncertain of what type of portrait your recipient may like??? Then Id suggest a gift voucher/certificate which allows them to have input into their gift by selecting which image they would like immortalised.

Original works for art are available for purchase ... until Christmas any original work purchased over $500.00 will be shipped free of charge.

Tyson & Pez's portrait was commissioned as a 21st birthday present from Kelly.. Tyson's mother..

I really enjoyed the challenge of creating all those dapples on Pez's coat. Tyson & Pez his beautiful stallion are regular competitors on the Australian show jumping circuit.

I love immortalising these special moments in time that become treasured family heirlooms.

Perlino

There are certain rescue groups that are dear to my heart... Being an owner of 3 brumbys' (Australias wild horses) brumby rescue is one that is very dear to my heart.

Once a year I create an original work for each of the 3 rescue groups I am a member of..These pieces are raffled or sold directly to help raise funds to help there efforts to save these beautiful horses..

Perlino is one of the young brumbys rescued by the Outback Heritage Horse Associations of Western Australia. Drop by there website if you would like to read more about him is name is Digger.

Well Im a Chip is finished.. as the event was a night time race it was important to give the illusion that his ears and the top of his head which being a bay would be almost invisisable against.

I also add a little more dark green behind him to make his legs stand out.

Ive started work on the drivers silks adding the darks to his jacket along with his white pants... The gig has been an interesting challenge with all those bits of unfamilar harnes...

Lastly Ive started blocking colour on Im a Chip's body giving direction to his muscles out lining the darks and lights

Freckles

Its funny how when you look at a work on the computer you can see all the things that need to be altered...

Really happy with the progress on A Feather in my Cap so far.. I made a good start on the horse.. though still quite a lot to do on its head and perhaps the direction of that rump curve as well

I blocked in the saddle cloth to give me an idea of where the darks fall on the horses body underneath that saddle colth

Trying to find images to paint for the upcoming Arizona exhibition has been easy and hard at the same time... When I first saw this photo of Lance's I just knew I had to paint it.. I look for images that speak to me and get my creative juices flowing..

These little In's just spoke out and yelled paint me paint me.. and so the 3 Amigos was started.

The Brumby Whisperer - work in progress

The Brumby Whisperer Stage 2

Started work on the horses head .. blocking his head and neck... and started work on the horseman's face and beard..

Some artists make beards on men look so easy.. Ive decided its a challenge as you don't want it to look like a line around the jaw but don't want it to look like a muddy puddle either.

Will continue working on the horse and then come back and re-work the horseman's face..
