Piaffe

Piaffe

Well i finally finished this piece this morning after months of working on exhibition pieces.. it is the newest in my dressage series.

Funny how after you photograph a piece you think is finished you can see things that may need a bit of a tweak..

Will think it over over the weekend and then decide what I'll do. Piaffe is destined for a display at a dressage event I have been invited to just before Christmas..

However expressions of interest are being taken to purchase before hand

Trainers in Training . update

Trainers in Training update

Ive made a start on the mouldy railings the children are standing on.. finding it necessary to darken their cloths a little more to stand out against the rails.

Green is such a challenging colour to work with..

Trainers in Training is on target to meet my entry deadline for the upcoming Inglis exhibition entries... phew

Trainers in Training - work in progress

Trainers in Training - work in progress

Trainers in Training is currently a work in progress and is one of my entries for the Inglis Equine Art Prize here in Australia..

The theme for the exhibition is life on the stud farm... it seemed an appropriate image to paint of these 3 kids almost inspecting this young thoroughbred horse... assessing its prospects as a future winner.. and there becoming the industries future trainers..

Trainers in Training is a watercolour and  will be 14" x 21" unframed size upon completion.. I'm enjoying the complexity of the fabric folds in the kids shorts...

The Brumby Whisperer

The Brumby Whisperer

Well I think this fellow is finally finished... didn't want to add to much colour to the horses mane being white or cream in colour it could have become quite messy.

The Brumby Whisperer will be part of the Arizona exhibition in August unless sold before hand

Pondering

Pondering

Ive been toying with the idea of doing a watercolour painting on one of the relatively new watercolour canvas's Id heard so much about.... Ive discovered that you really need to use thicker paint rather than the usual washes that Im used to with paper.

I can now say I have completed a watercolour on w/colour canvas.

The Task at Hand

The Task at Hand
Since starting to work in watercolour again, Ive chosen some challenging subjects. This one was no acception with the checked shirt. The folds of his chaps where wonderful to work on with their folds of leather.

I hope Ive done justice to my subject. My next challenge is a black and white watercolour portrait of a horse and rider. But first I have a beautiful immortal collie dog named Tye to complete.

To purchase this work email me directly catherin@animalarthouse.com
