Curly

Curly

What can I say .. Curly was a very challenging portrait to paint but in a fun way.. She made me think out side my square about just how I would go about painting her fleece.

You really dont realise how many various shades of cream, beige and grey are in a sheeps fleece until you start painting.

Curly will be heading off the Moree Gallery  in June 2013.

Ralph the pig

Ralph

Ralph the rather inquisitive pig.. I recently brought a new horse and Ralph  was one of the other inhabitants on the property he came from.

Ive always wanted to draw or paint a pig but hadn't met one that I really thought had character till I met Ralph or rather my hubby took pics of Ralph and I saw them when we got home.

So meet

Henny Penny

Henny Penny

I wasn't 100% happy with this little lady decided that she really did need a few more white or grey toned feathers down her front.

So with paint brush in hand and a new palette of greys mixed up that's exactly what I set about doing.. Much much happier with her now and can say Henny Penny is definitely finished all bar the sealing of the canvas and attaching the hanging apparatus on the back of the canvas.

Henny Penny is a Japanese Bantam hen.

Rooster - Untitled

Rooster Untitled

This dude is Henny Pennys mate both on canvas and in real life.. Made a good start to him this morning.. blocking in the colours on his comb and starting on the detail on his wattles.

Who knew that there was so much texture in a Roosters comb. Im sure finding that out with this particular breed of Rooster

Henny Penny

Henny Penny

Well I think this little lady is finished will decide it I need to do one more tweak to her tomorrow.   Started going a bit cross eyed from all those feathers by the time I washed my brushes.

Still Ive had a lot of fun painting Henny Penny who knew that chooks could be so captivating to paint
